Andrew Barnum (Memory Collective), is an Australian singer-songwriter born in the USA, resident of Sydney and Meroo Meadow NSW. A long bloomer with 7 solo albums and member of Vitabeats. This album is his 6th produced by Boris Hunt. Notes below by Jason Walker

“For those who have followed Andrew Barnum  for the better part of a decade, we now have a fifth volume following the incredible dense and rewarding collision of art and music on Feed The Clouds. Evidence, were it needed, that time is threshing at our days like so much wheat.

Andrew moves along a nexus of music and art, towards a point where there is no usefulness in separating such creativity in to types. Memory Collective draws its imagistic power from the very idea it is named for, our shared experiences, memories future and past.

As for the music, I hear the textures folk and country at the point where they swerve off the colour chart. Echoes and reverberations, a kind of familiarity that draws on the work of Guy Clarke, Nick Lowe, The Band, Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star, not by definitions of ‘influence’ but rather that shared territory.

This is music made for the open windows of summer, for old roofs open to the winter sky, for swallows in flight, for the bending flames in the window of a wood stove, music for the rafters and the long haul drive, for keeping an eye on you and yours, for driftwood and snow. Music to dig your fingers into. Follow these tracks.”
